151. Trend

In Technical Analysis, it is defined as a succession of higher highs and higher lows - up trend - or lowers highs and lower lows - down trend - which is determined by price action.

152. Trend Line, Tentative Trend, Valid Trend

A line connecting the lows of an up trend or the highs of a downtrend. Tentative Trend line respects (touches) price less than three times. A Valid trend line respects (touches) price at least three times if not more.

153. Trough

The lowest low of in a downtrend.

154. Unrestricted Non-Preserved Amount

The unrestricted non-preserved amount refers to an amount in a superannuation fund which can be paid in cash to you at any time upon request.

155. Unweighted Index

An index which does not taking into account the each individual stocks overall market share in relation to all other shares in the index.

156. Up Trend Line

The line which connects the lower points of a graph which represents a upward trend usually associated with a rise in price.

157. Volume

The total number financial instruments that are traded during a given period.

158. Weak Market

A softening or bearish market that is falling.

159. Weighted Index

An index which does taking into account the each individual stocks overall market share in relation to all other shares in the index.

160. Whipsaw

A rapid reversal of trading due to an extremely volatile market. Usually occurs when buying before rapid drops, or selling before rapid rises.

161. Yield

The total return on an investment expressed usually in a % form which comprises of either company gain (or loss), any interest receipts or coupon payments, and any declared dividends payable.
